Outline

Lan gains more followers. Perrin and Galad believe their armies must fight, but decide to meet first.

Summary

Lan's Point of View:

Location: Saldaea

Characters: Andere, Bulen, Lan, Nazar, Rakim

Lan and Bulen have been traveling for weeks. They are avoiding the main routes as Lan doesn't want more followers. They arrive at an inn and see three men smoking outside. Lan recognises all three. He is surprised that Andere is wearing the hadori and that Nazar has put his back on. He rides on, but they follow him. He tells them not to, but they refuse, saying they would only obey a king. He relents and allows them to join him.




Galad's Point of View:

Setting: Whitecloak Camp

Characters: Byar, Galad

Byar tells Galad that Perrin's army is a few days from them. He tells Galad that Perrin is there and that he killed Geofram Bornhald.




Perrin's Point of View:

Setting: Perrin's Tent

Characters: Faile, Perrin

Perrin eats meat for breakfast, which Faile finds odd. He has decided his group will stay where they are until they have been able to assess the Whitecloak threat.




Galad's Point of View:

Setting: Whitecloak Camp

Characters: Byar, Galad

Byar tells Galad about fighting trollocs in the Two Rivers, which he claims is full of darkfriends. He claims Perrin is Shadowspawn and was the one who brought the trollocs. He tells Galad that Perrin had previously killed two of the children in Andor.


Perrin's Point of View:

Setting: Perrin's Tent

Characters: Gaul, Perrin

Gaul confirms that the Whitecloaks are holding Perrin's people.




Galad's Point of View:

Setting: Whitecloak Camp

Characters: Byar, Galad

Galad tells Byar that it is their duty to bring Perrin to justice. Byar tells him that the Queen of Ghealdan has sworn fealty to Perrin. He insists they can defeat him.




Perrin's Point of View:

Setting: Perrin's Tent

Characters: Gaul, Perrin

Perrin wonders if his ta'veren nature has brought the Whitecloaks to him. Gaul tells him they have around twenty thousand soldiers.




Galad's Point of View:

Setting: Whitecloak Camp

Characters: Byar, Galad

Galad agrees they will need to fight, but decides he should first tell Perrin they hold his allies and try to draw him into a position where they can use the Whitecloak cavalry.




Perrin's Point of View:

Setting: Perrin's Tent

Characters: Gaul, Perrin

Perrin tells Gaul to offer a parley and give them a chance to return those they took prisoners.
