General
Hurin (last name unknown) is a thief-taker in service of the King of Shienar. He is stationed in Fal Dara and is described as being a lean man with a lined face and graying long cut hair (TGH, Ch. 9). He does not have the topknot of a Shienaran warrior. This means that he considers himself to be a commoner, not a soldier. His exact age is not mentioned, but from his description and the fact that he has a wife, Melia and children (TGH, Ch. 13) we can derive he is probably not a young man.
His work has taken him beyond the borders of Shienar, in several places it becomes clear he has some experience with Cairhien for instance. He also chased a killer to Maradon in Saldaea once. Hurin is very loyal to his Lords and King and has great confidence in their ability to lead.
Timeline
- Hurin is introduced to Rand by Lord Ingtar when they leave to track down Padan Fain's band to reclaim the Horn of Valere and the dagger from Shadar Logoth (TGH, Ch. 9).
