Senior Member Interview
Why did you choose Green?
It just felt right. There was no guesting program when I was coming up through the Tower, so choosing an Ajah was much different. Luckily, I knew myself well enough to choose wisely.
Are you like the Greens in the books? Do you like to have fun with men? Are you a fierce warrior?
I definitely fit the profile. I never got the idea that the Greens in the books were necessarily promiscuous. It was more that they were more accepting of many lifestyles, and perhaps because of their warrior mentality; more aware that life can be short.
Do you have a favorite Green Ajah character from the novels?
I like the group as a whole more than I like individual characters in the Ajah. There are some things about Cadsuane I like, but there are other things about Greens like Myrelle and Alanna that I prefer.
How long have you been a fan of the Wheel of Time series?
I started reading Eye of the World in 1999, so since then. I was a junior at the University of Michigan, and needed something fun to read. For some reason, I didn't get much schoolwork done during my first read of the then-eight book series.
How did you first get into the series?
My evil college roommate recommended it to me. I think that's the only good memory I have of her.
Who is your favorite "hero"?
Probably Mat, but it took a few books for that to happen. I also have had a lot of love for Nynaeve and Moiraine from the beginning. I never warmed up to Egwene until the past couple of books, though.
Favorite bad guy/gal?
Lanfear. I like her rebellious attitude.
Favorite book and scene?
I have so many, I could never pick.
If you were set down in Randland, who/what would you see yourself as? An Aes Sedai? Innkeeper? Seanchan Captain?
Definitely an Aes Sedai. The White Tower scenes are some of my favorite in the series.
How did you find TarValon.Net and what convinced you to stay and become a Senior Member?
I think I found the site on a random WoT Google search in 2004. I stayed for two reasons. The first being that I have always wanted to be an Aes Sedai since I first read the series. The second being that the people here are awesome.
What do you do in "real life"?
I'm a restaurant server, but I'm trying not to be one anymore.
Do you have any hobbies?
I enjoy watching sports, especially football and hockey. I obviously like reading. I relax by doing crossword puzzles. I love beer, wine and food. I'm a big history nerd. Mostly, I just like spending time with people I like.
What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
I don't really listen to new music at all anymore, because it's lame and boring. I love classic rock and punk music.
What are some of your favorite movies / television shows?
I enjoy adventure movies like the original Star Wars trilogy and Raiders of the Lost Ark. My favorite TV shows are How I Met Your Mother, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, Criminal Minds, and Game of Thrones.
Aside from The Wheel of Time, what are a few of your favorite books/series?
I just read the Hunger Game series, and I couldn't put it down. I love everything I've read so far by Brandon Sanderson. I also like random good books like The Historian and The Secret History.
What profession did you want to have when you were a kid?
I wanted to be a teacher. I think I would probably have been fired for slapping children if I had, though
