Tower Sworn Interview

Why did you choose Brown?

It was where I fit. Somehow, I got there and all of a sudden there was a place for me. I wasn't too weird and I understood most (if not all) of where the other sisters are coming from.

Are you like the Browns in the books? Do you love books and have a tendency to daydream?

I most definitely love books and have a tendency to day dream. I think that is about all I have in common with the book Browns.

Do you have a favorite Brown Ajah character from the novels?

Verin. Of course. Who wouldn't love her? While the Ajah that I admire most from the books is the Green Ajah (anyone willing to lay down their life at a moment's notice for someone they don't even know deserves my utmost respect, in my opinion), the *person* that I admire most is the one person in the whole books that dedicated years of her life sacrificing herself for just the hope of a better future for others.

How long have you been a fan of the Wheel of Time series?

Since I was 18. So, about 18 years. :D

How did you first get into the series?

My senior year in high school I hung out with one of my best friends. A guy named Kris. We went through everything together that year, from fighting school cliques to morning sickness and false labor (I was pregnant. Not, it wasn't his, but he was there any way). Through it all, he kept asking me "Have you read a book called The Eye of the World"? I moved away after high school. Married the father of my baby and found myself out of touch with everything I knew in North Carolina. I went to the book store one day to find something to read. I almost grabbed one of my stand by books (something Forgotten Realms, I think) when I spotted this book called "The Eye of the World." Well, it instantly made me think of Kris and I had to have it. Then I read the beginning of the book. I think I finished it that night around 3 a.m. I had to go back for the next the following day. I've been hooked since then.

Who is your favorite "hero"?

Well, it used to be Perrin. After (spoiler alert) the whole thing with Faile, I'm kind of at a stand off with the heroes of the book. They got so whiny!(/spoiler alert)

Favorite bad guy/gal?

I would have to say Lanfear. I just love to hate her so much.

Favorite book and scene?

My favorite book is The Shadow Rising. My favorite scene, though, is not in The Shadow Rising. (spoiler alert) It is the one where Nynaeve finally breaks through her channeling block. It was such a pivotal moment for her.

If you were set down in Randland, who/what would you see yourself as? An Aes Sedai? Innkeeper? Seanchan Captain?

Probably a farm wife. Or a bar maid. I'm not all that exciting in real life. Only in my dreams.

How did you find TarValon.Net and what convinced you to stay and become Tower Sworn?

Eilidh literally kidnapped (like it was hard to get me from my living room to my computer in the bedroom >.>) me one day after months of pestering me to join the site and made me set up an account. I stayed because no one made fun of me or flat out ignored me. It was a novel experience for me. Wil was so welcoming and the other citizens accepted me and made me one of them.

What do you do in "real life"?

I clean bars. For the sake of your lunch, I'll stop there.

Do you have any hobbies?

Besides reading? Sewing, crochet, World of Warcraft. The usual "I'm a geek and I know it" stuff.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

I enjoy all kinds (I've found a recent longing for club music) but my favorite is country.

What are some of your favorite movies / television shows?

Dancing with the Stars, Sing Off, Harry's Law, NCIS (both of them), Law and Order (all of them), A Gifted Man, The Amazing Race, Holmes Inspection (anything with Mike Holmes, really), Property Virgins, Disaster DIY, Income Property, Bones, Star Trek (all of them except Enterprise. Not too keen on that one, though I'll watch it in a pinch), Star Wars, Anything with either Sandra Bullock, Katherine Heigl (not Grey's Anatomy, though), or Queen Latifah, Any movie that is classified as "horror," and most Sci-Fi flicks, X-Men (all of them), Batman (not the one with Arnold, though), Reese Witherspoon movies, AND anything my mother in law comes up with on dinner night. She somehow picks the most obscure crap that is really good.

Aside from The Wheel of Time, what are a few of your favorite books/series?

Go to the Sci-Fi/Fantasy section of your book store. Pick anything. I probably like it or would like it if I read it. Same goes for the Romance section. I love the Bones books by Kathy Reichs. They are not the same as the show. A lot of my favorite stuff is listed in the adolescent fantasy section these days. I was into Anne Rice in the 80's. I feel I have a legitimate claim to loving vampire books. Yes, I like Twilight. The books. The movies I go to because my mother-in-law makes me.

What profession did you want to have when you were a kid?

What DIDN'T I want to be? Doctor, nurse, teacher, mother, wife, domestic Goddess. You name it, I wanted it. Looking back, I got to be the best ones, though. Mother, wife, domestic Goddess. I am a nursing assistant (lapsed license, but it's not like the test is hard to take), and I did a bit of tutoring in high school (cured me of wanting to be a teacher).
