General

Almurat Mor is a Seeker for Truth, thus the property of the Empress of Seanchan. He is a slender, good-looking man in his middle years with pale yellow hair and blue eyes (TSR, Ch. 38; Ch. 46; Ch. 52; WH, Ch. 20; CoT, Ch. 4).

He has a tower and a raven tattooed on both shoulders (TSR, Ch. 38).

Timeline

• He has taken passage on Bayle Domon's ship to check on the agents Suroth had left to seek deserters from Falme (TSR, Ch. 38).

• When he checks in on Egeanin, he has her sketch maps of Tanchico and its defenses as well as every other city she knew something about (TSR, Ch. 38).

• He breaks a refugee's arm in the street (TSR, Ch. 46).

• He follows Egeanin as Nynaeve and Elayne take her to The Three Plum Court and waits until she departs again (TSR, Ch. 46).

• After Juilin returns from seeking information about Amathera, he mutters about "some pale-haired fellow who had tried to rob him" (TSR, Ch. 51).

• In The Three Plum Court he attacks Thom because he wanted to listen at the door he was guarding, but Juilin and Domon arrive and knock him unconscious. Egeanin suggests cutting his throat, yet Nynaeve orders the men to leave him in the alley behind the inn (TSR, Ch. 52).

• He is at an inn in Ebou Dar, playing dice with Mat. When his toss wins, Mat mutters a curse mentioning the name "Daughter of the Nine Moons" and Mor chokes on his punch. When Mat asks if he knew that name, Mor lies and says his punch went down the wrong way (LoC, Ch. 52).

• He is on horseback, surveying the city of Ebou Dar from a hill, thinking and recalling what Mat had said. He considers the possibility that Mat's comment might have been an omen and that maybe the Return (and with it Tuon) would come and lead the Seanchan to victory in the Westlands (LoC, Epilogue).

• After the Corenne arrives, he pays Bethamin a visit and orders her to spy on Egeanin (WH, Ch. 20).

• After Tuon's disappearance, he visits Karede, feeding him the rumor that a girl of Tuon's description has been extorting gold. He shares thoughts with Karede of an Aes Sedai conspiracy to kidnap Tuon. He believes Thom to be behind the kidnapping. He does not take this notion to his superiors as he believes Suroth to be in on the conspiracy and to have corrupted some of his superiors (CoT, Ch. 4).

Relationships

His duty is to the Empress and through her to the Empire of Seanchan (WH, Ch. 20).

He serves the High Lady Suroth and the Corenne for the Empress (TSR, Ch. 38).

The High Lord Turak has set him to watch Suroth (WH, Ch. 20).

Miscellaneous

• He thinks Ebou Dar is a good city for looting, even though the inhabitants would resist. He also hopes "the other eyes" (possibly other Seekers) bring reports of disunity, so the city will fall faster to the Seanchan (LoC, Epilogue).

• He carries a knife in the small of his back (CoT, Ch. 4).

• He carries a small, gold-edged ivory plaque engraved with a tower and a raven with black sapphires for eyes in his belt pouch. It points out his status as a Seeker for Truth (TSR, Ch. 38; WH, Ch. 20; CoT, Ch. 4).

• His surname indicates that his family had come with Luthair Paendrag Mondwin (CoT, Ch. 4).

• Karede notices his scanning look "that slid across the room as though memorizing everything in it" (CoT, Ch. 4).

A slender man slipped into the room from the hallway without knocking. He might have been one of the inn's stablemen from his rough coat, but no local had his pale hair or the blue eyes that slid across the room as though memorizing everything in it. His hand slipped under his coat, and Karede rehearsed two ways of killing him barehanded in the brief moment before he produced a small, gold-bordered ivory plaque worked with the Raven and the Tower.
