General
As the Dark One gains more freedom, it is possible that some mindless parts of him could escape, and drift up, to touch the pattern, at which they will twist it, causing terrible things to happen (TSR, Ch. 3). At first, they just affected ta'veren, but as time goes on, the events are seen more widely and rumours of strange occurences spread (LoC, Ch. 3).

- When Rand practices the sword with Lan in Fal Dara, the air solidifies and tries to force him into it (TGH, Ch. 1).
- Perrin's axe attacks him and Faile (TSR, Ch. 3).
- Rand's reflections come to life and attack him (TSR, Ch. 3).
