Saal: A serving girl at The Woman of Tanchico in Tar Valon. She is pretty and has big, brown eyes. (TDR,Ch31) Mada and Saal bring Thom and Mat a huge meal. (TDR,Ch31)

Saera Deosin: A woman from Murandy. She is married to Eadwin Deosin. New Spring - Her name is in Moiraine's notebook as the possible mother of the Dragon Reborn.

Saeric: An Aielman of the Red Water Goshien. He has gray hair and is missing his right hand. (LoC,Ch42) Saeric is teaching kick fighting when Rand arrives at the Black Tower. (LoC,Ch42)

Saerin Asnobar: Sitter for the Brown Ajah in the Tower who joined the search for Black Ajah members.

Sahra Covenry: A novice in the White Tower. She has black hair, is fifteen or sixteen, and has a piping voice. (TSR,Ch1) Sahra takes Min to see Siuan and sees her speak with Gawyn. (TSR,Ch1) One of the Black Ajah questions Sahra then kills her. (TSR,Ch17)

Sakaru: A Shienaran soldier. Sakaru is one of the Shienaran soldiers under Ingtar and Rand who depart Fal Dara to hunt for the Horn of Valere. (TGH,Ch9) Sakaru is one of the Shienaran soldiers under Uno who depart for Jehannah. (TDR,Ch6) Sakaru is killed before Nynaeve and Elayne arrive in Samara. (TFoH,Ch40)

Salita Toranes: An Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah. She joins the Salidar Aes Sedai and is elected Sitter in the Salidar Hall. She is younger than Escaralde but older than Aledrin and Kwamesa. She has been Aes Sedai for thirty-five years. She is Tairen. She is almost as dark as one of the Sea Folk. (LoC,Ch30) She is dark. (TPoD,Ch19) She has a round face. (CoT,Ch17)

Samalin: An Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah. She joins the Salidar Aes Sedai and is elected Sitter in the Salidar Hall. She is younger than Escaralde but older than Aledrin and Kwamesa. She is from Murandy. She is sharp-faced. (LoC,Ch35) She is fox-faced and has a mannish stride. (CoT,Ch19) The Sitters meet to hear the report on Shadar Logoth. Samalin is one of the first to stand and vote YES on an alliance with the Black Tower. (CoT,Ch19)

Samel Crawe: An Emond's Field man and a member of the Village Council. His son is Bandry Crawe. He is horse-faced with a long nose. (TSR,Ch56) Jon Thane and Samel Crawe lead the forces at the east perimeter at the defense of Emond's Field. (TSR,Ch56)

Samitsu Tamagowa: Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah. Associate of Cadsuane, along with Damer Flinn, she saved Rand when Fain stabbed him with the dagger from Shadar Logoth. Skilled in healing.

Sammael: One of the Forsaken. Hated Lews Therin, but tried to arrange a truce between himself and Rand. Presumed killed by Mashadar in Shadar Logoth after Rand attacked Illian.

Sanduin: A True Blood from an unknown sept and clan.

Sanor: A crewman on the Gray Gull. He is huge, with arms like Perrin's. (TDR,Ch32) Sanor and Vasa prepare the Gray Gull to depart Tar Valon. Huan Mallia orders them to throw Thom and Mat overboard, but he thinks better when he sees Mat's coin. (TDR,Ch32)

Santes: A thief-catcher from Mayene. He is nondescript. (WH,Ch5) Berelain sends Gendar and Santes on a mission to spy on Masema. They steal a letter of protection from Suroth from his private desk. She sends them out again, but they do not return. (CoT,Ch6)

Santhra: Author of a book on the Forsaken. TGH,Ch22 - At Adeleas and Vandene's house, Moiraine studies Santhra's book on the Forsaken.

Sar: A Shienaran soldier. Sar is one of the Shienaran soldiers under Ingtar and Rand who depart Fal Dara to hunt for the Horn of Valere. (TGH,Ch9) Sar falls off a cliff in the Mountains of Mist and is killed. (TFoH,Ch40)

Sara: The cook at the Stag and Lion in Baerlon. Sara defends her cat, Cirri, when Master Fitch complains about the dead rats left lying about the inn. (TEotW,Ch15)

Sarainya Vostovan: One of the Kin. She was an Arafellin noble. She is a weak channeler. She is strikingly handsome. (ACoS,Ch24) Sarainya and the rest of the Kin travel with Elayne to the Royal Palace in Caemlyn. When two of the Kin are discovered to be runaway novices and are put in white Sarainya and Asra nearly start a revolt that is put down by Reanne and Alise. (TPoD,Ch28)

Saralin: A woman of the Jenn Aiel shortly after the Breaking. Her son is Lewin. Her daughter is Maigran. Her husband is Malind. Her father-in-law is Adan. When Lewin and his friends, Luca, Gearan and Alijha, return from freeing Maigran and Colline the girls run to their mothers. Adan, Saralin and Nerrine disown the boys for using violence. (TSR,Ch25)

Sareitha Tomares: Brown Aes Sedai with Elayne who seems unusually fond of Daved Hanlon

Sarek: A Seanchan nobleman. Sarek draws the attention of the Seeker for Truth when he has designs on Serengada Dai and Tuel. (TFoH,Ch32) TFoH,Ch32 - Lady Morsa and Jalindin talk about Sarek.

Sarena: An Altaran noblewoman. She is stocky and hard eyed with a thin scar across her cheek. (LoC,Ch8) Lady Sarena and other Altaran nobles listen to Logain's story about the Red Ajah setting him up. (LoC,Ch8)

Sarene Nemedahl: White Aes Sedai swore fealty to Rand after time as da'tsang for kidnapping him. Though cold and logical, destined to have a tempestuous love affair.

Sari Ayellin: A young woman from Emond's Field. After Sari's father dies, she causes all kinds of trouble until both she and her mother find husbands. (TFoH,Ch16) TFoH,Ch16 - Nynaeve recalls Sari's behavior when she learns from Elayne that Thom was Morgase's lover.

Sarien: An Aiel man. Sarien is with Gaul hunting for He Who Comes With the Dawn when they are attacked by Orban, Gann and their men. Sarien is killed and Gaul is captured. (TDR,Ch34)

Sarin Hoigan: He is Nisao's Warder. He is a bald headed stump of a man with a thick black beard. (ACoS,Ch12) Sarin waits outside with Nisao reports to Egwene about the murder of Kairen. (CoT,Ch30)

Sarinde: An Aiel Wise One from Red Springs Hold, clan hold of the Codarra. Indirian reports to Rand that Sarinde said the Wise Ones will take part in battle to fight the Shaido Wise Ones. (ACoS,Ch18)

Saroiya: An Aes Sedai of the White Ajah and a Sitter in the Hall. She joins the Salidar Aes Sedai and is a Sitter in the Salidar Hall. She sides with Romanda. As a novice, Myrelle puts a trout in Saroiya's bath and is severely punished. (TFoH,Ch26) The Sitters meet to hear the report on Shadar Logoth. Magla, Faiselle, Saroiya, Takima and Varilin react violently to the proposal to ally with the Black Tower. They and Delana vote NO on the alliance. They even refuse to stand for the greater consensus. (CoT,Ch19)

Sashalle: Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, stilled by Rand at Dumai Wells and Healed by Flinn, she the swore fealty to Rand. Unlike the others, the Aiel considered her punished enough and gave her free run of the Sun Palace.

Satina: A woman in Salidar. Satina tries to help Nynaeve rescue Emara and Ronelle they are almost strangled by their sheets as a bubble of evil attacks Salidar. (LoC,Ch14) LoC,Ch14 - Emara, Ronelle, Mulinda and Satina share a room in the same house as Elayne and Egwene.

Savion Amhara: An historic First Counsel of Far Madding. WH,Ch22 - Savion Amhara is one of the three most famous First Counsels in the history of Far Madding. There is a statue of her in the Amhara Market in Far Madding. She points toward the Tear Gate.

Seaghan: A theater manager in Cairhien. Seaghan wants to hire actors to portray the characters in the Great Hunt of the Horn, which outrages Thom. (TGH,Ch26)

Seaine Herimon: White Aes Sedai and Sitter in Elaida's Hall. Set hunting the Black Ajah by Elaida. The only sitter who didn't vote for Elaida to remain in the tower after Siuan was deposed.

Sealdre: An Aiel Wise One and dreamwalker during the building of Rhuidean. She is married to Mandein. She has long, golden hair. (TSR,Ch25) Sealdre encourages Mandein to accept the challenge of the Jenn to be tested in Rhuidean. (TSR,Ch25)

Seana: Wise One of the Black Cliff Sept of the Nakai Aiel. Dreamer unable to channel, she was killed by a Drakhar.

Sebban Balwer: Once secretary to Pedron Niall, he was in reality spy master for the whole of the whitecloaks. Fled with Morgase after Niall was murdered and Seanchan attacked, he now works for Perrin who is unaware of his previous role.

Sedore: An Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah. She remains loyal to the White Tower and is a Sitter in the Hall. She is round-faced. (TPoD,Ch25) Sedore meets with Elaida and Sitters of the other Ajahs to discuss the Seanchan, the Salidar Aes Sedai, and Rand. (TPoD,Ch25) CoT,Prologue - Sedore was a Sitter before the White Tower split.

Sedrin: The high wire walker in Valan Luca's circus. After the circus is kicked out of Sienda, Sedrin gets drunk and falls off his high rope to his death. (TFoH,Ch17)

Seeker: Almurat Mor. A Seeker for Truth of the Seanchan. He is slender and in his middle years. He is good looking with pale hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo of a raven and tower on each shoulder. (TSR,Ch38) He is good looking and has yellow hair. (WH,Ch20)

Sefela: An Aiel Maiden of the Spear. TSR,Ch12 - Not wanting to go to Rhuidean, Aviendha tells Egwene that Jolien or Sefela or Bain or Chiad could take her there.

Segan do Avharin a'Roos: A Murandian noblewoman. She has full lips and dark eyes. (TPoD,Ch17) She is slender with long, dark hair and a full, petulant mouth. (TPoD,Ch18) Segan is one of the leaders of the Murandian delegation that meets with the Andorans and the Salidar Aes Sedai. (TPoD,Ch17) After the formal meeting Segan asks Egwene if she really meant the novices book would be open to women of all ages. (TPoD,Ch18)

Seirin: An Aiel warrior of the Shorara Tomanelle. He is about Rand's age. (TFoH,Ch44) Seirin brings Rand news from Han. The other four clans are moving together, but it is not clear if they are joining Rand or attacking. (TFoH,Ch44)

Sela: Gareth Bryne's bedchamber maid. She is getting on in years. (TFoH,Ch1) TFoH,Ch1 - Caralin suggests that Gareth Bryne have "Mara" as his bedchamber maid as Sela is getting a bit too old to run up and down stairs.

Selame: One of Egwene's maids. She is Tairen. She has typical Tairen dark coloring. She is rail-thin with a long nose and seems to be a foolish twit. (ACoS,Ch10) Selame serves tea while Egwene and Siuan go over petitions. Later that day, after Aran'gar buries a body in the snow, Siuan notes that she is missing. (TPoD,Ch16)

Selande Darengil: Young Cairhienen noblewoman. Once served Colavaere, she is now leader of a fighting society modelling itself after the Aiel warrior societies.

Selindrin: Proprietress of the Garden of Silver Breezes. A sleek woman of indeterminate age. (TSR,Ch38) Selindrin discreetly serves her guests as Egeanin meets with Floran Gelb and Jaichim Carridin meets with three nobles and King Andric. (TSR,Ch38)

Selucia: Tuon's so'jhin bodyguard since birth. Stayed with her despite being offered land elsewhere.

Semaradrid Maravin: A nobleman from Cairhien. He is long-faced, with white streaks at his temple, and dark eyes that could chip stone. (LoC,Ch4) He has a gaunt, hard face and dark eyes. (TPoD,Ch13)

Semirharge: One of the Forsaken. Takes pleasure from giving others pain, something at which she is very skilled. In the Age of Legends, she was the greatest of the healers.

Senine din Ryal: A Windfinder of the Sea Folk. Despite her age she is of relatively low rank. She is Windfinder on a small soarer. She has weathered cheeks and graying hair. (TPoD,Ch2) She wears six earrings but previously wore more. (WH,Ch11)

Seonid Traighan: Green Aes Sedai, originally from Cairhien. Swore fealty to Rand.

Sera: A Seanchan damane. She has tightly curled black hair. (WH,Ch14) Tuon brings six damane with her to Ebou Dar. They are Lidya, Dali, Dani, Charral, Sera and Mylen. (WH,Ch14) WH,Ch14 - Sera is the strongest of Tuon's damane and very proud.

Serafelle: An Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah. Serafelle arrives at Fal Dara as part of the Amyrlin Seat's entourage. (TGH,Ch2) TGH,Ch7 - Verin tells Moiraine and Siuan that Serafelle is the only other one to read the Dark Prophecy and that she is too caught up in ancient books to interpret it.

Serailla: She is First Councilor to Queen Ethenielle of Kandor. She is plain and stout, yet graceful. She has a round face and dark eyes. She is always calm and unflappable. (TPoD,Prologue) Baldhere and Serailla accompany Queen Ethenielle to the Black Hills to the meeting of the rulers of the borderlands. (TPoD,Prologue)

Serancha Colvine: An Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah and Head Clerk of the Gray Ajah. After the White Tower split, Serancha hand picks Andaya as the new Sitter for the Gray Ajah. (CoT,Prologue) ACoS,Ch32 - Seaine and Pevara played tricks on her when they were novices and Accepted.

Serden: An Ogier author who lived six hundred years ago. Serden writes theories about the Ways. (LoC,Ch49) LoC,Ch49 - Loial was pleased and impressed that Erith listened so attentively when he explained Serden's theory of the Ways.

Sereille Bagand: Amyrlin Seat of the Aes Sedai 866 - 890 NE. She was raised from the White Ajah and was Mistress of Novices before becoming Amyrlin. She was a severe disciplinarian in both roles. CoT,Ch18 - Since punishing some of the Two Rivers girls, Egwene is developing a reputation of being as tough as Sereille Bagand.

Sereine dar Shamelle Motara: Counsel-Sister to Comaelle, High Queen of Jaramide, circa 325 AB. TSR,Ch1,Header - Sereine wrote Commentaries on the Karaethon Cycle.

Serenia Latar: An Amyrlin Seat from 276 to 306 NE. She was raised from the Gray Ajah. After her death the Whitecloaks hanged her body. (LoC,Ch31) LoC,Ch31 - A portrait of Serenia on the gallows hangs in the Dome of Truth. She was the only Amyrlin the Whitecloaks ever got.

Sergase: An Andoran noble. Several Andoran nobles who opposed Gaebril return to Caemlyn. They include Lady Arathelle, Lord Barel, Lord Macharan, Lady Negara, Lady Sergase, Lady Aemlyn and Lord Culhan. (LoC,Ch28)

Seri: A Seanchan damane. Lady Morsa, Jalindin, two sul'dam and their damane, Seri and Jini, and twenty soldiers confront Rand and Aviendha when they accidentally Travel to Seanchan. Rand tries to remove Jini's a'dam stunning himself, Jini and her sul'dam. Aviendha tries to remove Seri's a'dam but she cannot figure out how. (TFoH,Ch32)

Seta Zarbey: Sul'dam, one of Egwene's keepers when she was Damane, who learned she could channel. Fled Ebou Dar with Mat.

Setalle Anan: Innkeeper in Ebou Dar, who knows a great deal about channelling and Aes Sedai. Possibly an Aes Sedai who has been burned out.

Sevanna: Shaido woman who led them after Couladin's death. She claims to be a Wise One though she has never entered Rhuidean, a claim accepted by other Wise Ones.

Seve: A young boy taken by Marigan. Areina, Nicola, Marigan and her sons, Seve and Jaril, are among the refugees who board the Riverserpent with Nynaeve and Elayne. (TFoH,Ch48) Birgitte tries to play with Jaril and Seve while she stands guard for Nynaeve, Siuan and Leane. (LoC,Prologue)

Sevlana Meseau: A famous historical Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah. ACoS,Ch19 - Bera and Kiruna are shocked to see Cadsuane. Merana thinks it must be like her seeing Alind Dyfelle, Sevlana Meseau or Mabriam en Shereed.

Shadar Haran: Unusual myrdraal, taller than others with a sense of humour unlike other myrdraal. Given power and influence over the Forsaken, especially those who displease the Dark One. Can block the ability to channel, at least with the Saidar. Posseses other abilities and is likely the Dark One in Myrdraal form.

Shai'tan: aka: Great Lord, Dark One, Father of Lies, Sightblinder, Lord of the Grave, Shepherd of the Night, Heartsbane, Heartfang, Grassburner, Leafblighter. The head bad guy. Mierin and Beidomon conduct an experiment to tap into a new source of the One Power. They unexpectedly open a hole into the Dark One's prison. The Sharom at the Collam Daan explodes in black fire. (TSR,Ch26) Demandred meets with the Great Lord in Shayol Ghul. He tells the Great Lord that Rahvin is dead and that Lanfear, Asmodean and Moghedien are missing. The Great Lord confirms that Rahvin and Asmodean are dead. He asks if Demandred will use balefire and tempts him with the title Nae'blis. He then gives a list of orders. (LoC,Prologue)

Shaiel: "Shaiel" means "Woman Who Is Dedicated" in the Old Tongue. Daughter of Queen Mordrellen and sister of Luc. She married Taringail Damodred and had a son named Galad. She disappeared in 972 NE. She went into the Aiel Waste and married Janduin. She gave birth to Rand on the slopes of Dragonmount. Her sign was a woman's hand gripping a thorny rose-stem with a white blossom. She has golden hair. (TSR,Ch34) In 972 NE, Gitara Moroso tells Tigraine that disaster will befall the world unless she goes to the Three-fold Land, becomes a Maiden of the Spear, and does not return until the Maidens go to Tar Valon. (TSR,Ch34, LoC,Ch16)

Shalon din Togara Morning Tide: She is Windfinder of the Sea Folk Clan Shodein. Her husband is Mishael. Her younger sister is Harine din Togara Two Winds, Wavemistress of Clan Shodein. She is young and pretty. She wears eight earrings. (ACoS,Ch34) She appears to be young though she is actually older than her sister Harine. (WH,Ch23)

Shana: An Aes Sedai of the White Ajah. She joins the Salidar Aes Sedai. She is relatively weak, but she is an expert at reading residues. She is pop-eyed and reminds Elayne of a fish. (LoC,Ch40) Five Aes Sedai including Shana interview Aviendha until Elayne rescues her from them. (LoC,Ch40)

Shanelle: An Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah. She joins the Salidar Aes Sedai. She has a dark pretty face and pale blue eyes. (LoC,Ch30) A dozen Yellow Ajah sisters including Nisao, Dagdara, Shanelle, Therva and Beldemaine follow Nynaeve into the Little Tower and witness her Healing Siuan and Leane. (LoC,Ch30)

Shaofan: The Sh'botay (emperor) of Shara. He is very handsome, with very dark skin. (LoC,Ch6) Chiape and Shaofan perform for Graendal. (LoC,Ch6) LoC,Ch6 - Graendal brings Chiape and Shaofan from Shara just as a ruse for Sammael.

Sharbon: Jaichim Carridin's personal servant in Amador. He is plump. (TDR,Prologue) Sharbon brings Carridin some fruit, but Carridin takes out his frustrations on Sharbon. (TDR,Prologue)

Sharina Melloy: A grandmother. She has a commanding presence and even more potential than Nynaeve. She is graying. (TPoD,Ch30) She is dignified with her gray hair in a bun. She has creased cheeks and broad hips. She has dark eyes. (CoT,Ch17) Sharina joins the Salidar Aes Sedai in Murandy and asks to be entered in the novice book. (TPoD,Ch30) TGH,Ch23 - During Nynaeve's Accepted test in the third of the three arches, Lan thinks Nynaeve is unwell and offers to send for Sharina Sedai.

Sharmad Zeffar: A Domani refugee in the Two Rivers. She is plump with typical Domani coppery skin. She is a few years older than Faile. (LoC,Prologue) Faile sends Sharmad Zeffar and Rhea Avin to see Daise Congar for fighting over Wil al'Seen. (LoC,Prologue)

Shein Chunla: Amyrlin Seat of the Aes Sedai 578 - 601 NE. She was raised from the Green Ajah. She is considered to have been the most politically skilled Amyrlin Seat in the history of the White Tower. She starts out strongly, but eventually she loses power and is nothing more that a puppet of the Hall. (CoT,Ch30) She is secretly deposed, exiled and finally murdered. (TPoD,Ch15)

Shemerin: A sister of the Yellow Ajah. She remains loyal to the White Tower. She is plump. (TSR,Ch47) A slightly plump woman, she had somehow never really managed the outward calm of Aes Sedai; there was often a strain of anxiety around her eyes. (TFoH,Prologue) In the White Tower, Shemerin teaches Nynaeve about Yellow Ajah signs. (TFoH,Ch9) Elaida punishes Shemerin demoting her to Accepted. (TFoH,Ch49)

Sheraine Caminelle: An Aes Sedai captured by the Seanchan at Falme. She is called Mylen by the Seanchan. She is a pretty, slender little woman. (TGH,Ch43) She is very short and pale with dark hair. (WH,Ch14) She is short and pale and reminds Mat of Moiraine. (WH,Ch28)

Sheriam Bayanar: Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah. Mistress of Novices, then Egwene's Keeper of the Chronicles of the rebel Aes Sedai.

Shevan: An Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah and a Sitter in the Hall. She remains loyal to the White Tower. She is very tall and bonily thin with an angular face, a long chin and curly hair. (TPoD,Ch25) Elaida meets with over half the Sitters including Suana, Doesine, Ferane, Shevan, Andaya, Yukiri, Talene, Rubinde and Rina to discuss the rebel army. Suana, Ferane and Shevan support negotiations. (CoT,Ch21)

Shiaine Avarhin: see Mili Skane: A young woman who is also a Darkfriend assassin. Although she masquerades as Lady Shiaine, she is actually a saddler's daughter from a small village near Whitebridge. She is about the same age as Nynaeve. She is pretty, in a sharp-featured fashion. (TEotW,Ch33) She is about twenty-two. (ACoS,Ch15) At age fifteen, Mili Skane goes to the White Tower, but when she is told she cannot learn to channel she turns Darkfriend. In the next seven years she performs twenty assassinations. (ACoS,Ch15) Lady Shiaine tries to kill Rand and Mat in a village near Caemlyn. (TEotW,Ch33)

Shielyn: She is Windfinder to Zaida din Parede Blackwing, Wavemistress of Clan Catelar. She is slender, coolly reserved, and almost as tall as Aviendha. (WH,Ch11) CoT,Ch12 - When Elayne negotiates with Zaida to leave some Windfinders in Caemlyn, Zaida refuses to yield on the apprentices, Metarra and Talaan, and the Windfinders to Wavemistresses, Caire, Dorile, Renaile, Shielyn and Tebreille.

Shimel: A Far Madding merchant. She is stout with a round face. (WH,Ch32) While Rand listens in The Golden Wheel, Mistress Shimel tries to convince Master Posavina that he should continue to move his goods through Far Madding to Illian instead of taking the River Road to Tear. The Stone of Tear is under siege. (WH,Ch32)

Shimoku: An Accepted with the Salidar Aes Sedai. She is Kandori. She is pretty and dark eyed. (LoC,Ch14) Anaiya leads a circle including Elayne, Nynaeve, Nicola, Ashmanaille, Bharatine, Angla, Lanita, Shimoku and Calindin when a bubble of evil attacks Salidar. (LoC,Ch14) LoC,Ch14 - She became Accepted just before the White Tower divided.

Shivan the Hunter: One of the Heroes of the Horn. He is brother to Calian the Chooser. TGH,Ch47 - Mat blows the Horn of Valere and calls forth the Heroes of the Horn including Shivan the Hunter. ACoS,Ch21 - Mat recognizes Birgitte and recalls seeing her with the other Heroes of the Horn including Shivan the Hunter.

Shyanda: An Aiel Wise One. She is a fiery redhead. (WH,Prologue) Over a dozen Wise Ones including Amys, Monaelle, Nadere, Shyanda, Tamela and Viendre participate in Elayne's and Aviendha's first-sister ceremony. (WH,Prologue)

Sibella: One of the Kin Elders in Ebou Dar and a Wise Woman. She is scrawny and yellow-haired. (ACoS,Ch38) She is bony. (ACoS,Ch39) She has yellow hair. (TPoD,Ch1) The Kin Elders including Sibella are meeting when Elayne returns with the Aes Sedai from Tarasin Palace. (ACoS,Ch31)

Siedre: A woman of the Jenn Aiel during the Breaking. Her husband is Adan. Her children are Malind, Rhea, Elwin, Sorelle and Jaren. She has red-gold hair. (TSR,Ch26) Siedre is killed in one of the many bandit raids on the Jenn Aiel. (TSR,Ch26)

Sierin Vayu: The Amyrlin Seat 979-984, raised from the Gray Ajah. Sierin Vayu succeeds Tamra Ospenya as the Amyrlin Seat shortly after Moiraine and Siuan are raised to Aes Sedai. (TFoH,Ch15) Sierin dies mysteriously two years after Tamra Ospenya. There is a disconnect on timing here as the Guide says she ruled for five years. The Black Ajah did not have anything to do with her death. In fact, Chesmal Emry induces the Red Ajah to murder her. (ACoS,Prologue, WH,Ch10)

Silene Dorelmin: She is a dressmaker in Chachin. She is slim and haughty. Moiraine orders dresses from her. (New Spring)

Sillia Cerano: Owner and manager of a touring circus. Sillia Cerano gets her circus set up at Samara before Valan Luca. She has clowns at her circus. (TFoH,Ch36) Sillia Cerano is flogged when she does not move her circus fast enough to suit the Prophet. (TFoH,Ch47) TFoH,Ch47 - Valan Luca hires the Murasaka sisters away from Sillia's show.

Silviana: Mistress of Novices in the tower and Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah.

Sim: Innkeeper of The King's Lancer in Sienda, Amadicia. Master Sim has to board up his door after Valan Luca's boar horse smashes through it. (TFoH,Ch13)

Simaan: High Lord of Tear in rebellion against Rand.

Simion: Man met by Perrin in Jarra, Ghealdan. His brother Noam lost his mind completely when he became a wolfbrother.

Siuan Sanche: Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, previously Amyrlin Seat. Now assists Egwene with the rebel Aes sedai.

Slayer: Assasin for the Shadow able to walk Tel'aran'rhiod in the flesh. In this form, may have the body of Isam, Lan's cousin. Capable of entering the Tower of Ghenjei in the world of dreams. Related in some way to Lord Luc, he has been set to hunt Rand.

Solain Morgeillin: One of the Kin in Ebou Dar. Reanne sends Solain to check on the *angreal stash in the Rahad. Mat follows her. (ACoS,Ch29) As Elayne walks through the Royal Palace, she sees Solain Morgeillin and Keraille Surtovni escorting one of the captured sul'dam. (WH,Ch8)

Solinda: An Aes Sedai during the Breaking. She has very long sun red hair. (TSR,Ch26) Solinda, Oselle and Deindre meet with Someshta in the Hall of the Servants to give him a final task. They have Callandor and the Dragon Banner and are preparing to make the Eye of the World. Solinda sends Jonai to lead the Aiel as they take items of the One Power in search of a place of safety. (TSR,Ch26)

Somara: An Aiel Maiden of the Spear of the Bent Peak Daryne. She is almost as tall as Rand. (TFoH,Ch46) She has flaxen hair. (TFoH,Ch51) Sulin leads hundreds of Maidens including Enaila, Lamelle and Somara who will not let Rand out of his tent until he agrees to let them accompany him. (TFoH,Ch43)

Someryn: Shaido Wise One, strong in the power. Strong and cruel, but not so much as Therava. Apparently in competition with Sevanna for who can be the most gaudy and revealing, on whom she has set the Gaishan spying.

Someshta: aka. The Green Man. A Nym. He is man-shaped and as much bigger than an Ogier as an Ogier is bigger than a man. He appears to be made of woven leaves and vines. He hair is grass, his eyes are hazelnuts and his fingernails are acorns. There is a deep scar running up his head. (TEotW,Ch48) The Green Man takes Moiraine and the others to a cave where the Eye of the World is located. When Aginor and Balthamel arrive he commands them to leave. Balthamel burns him, but he grabs Balthamel, rotting him. As he dies, he grasps an acorn, which grows into a mighty oak. (TEotW,Ch50)

Sora Grady: Wife of Jur Grady. They have a young son. She is plump and pale-haired. (LoC,Ch3) Sora is at the farm with her husband when Rand arrives. When Rand leaves, she has her eyes locked on him as he steps through a gateway. (LoC,Ch3)

Soran Milo: A writer who lived six hundred years ago. Soran Milo writes a book about the Aiel titled The Killers of the Black Veil. He gets most of it wrong, but he accurately depicts a peddler's description of a Portal Stone on Chaendaer. (TSR,Ch22) TSR,Ch22 - Rand finds Soran Milo's book in the library of Tear and learns about the Portal Stone on Chaendaer.

Sorelle: A woman of the Jenn Aiel after the Breaking. Her parents are Adan and Siedre. Her siblings are Malind, Elwin, Rhea and Jaren. At age twenty, Sorelle dies of a fever that she dreamed about. (TSR,Ch26)

Sorilea: Aiel. Wise One of the Jarra Sept of the Chareen Aiel. Able to channel, though weak in the Power. She is said to be the oldest living Wise One, and stands foremost amongst them, though not really for this reason.

Sotarin: An Aiel Wise One. She and Cosain are sent to meet Feraighin when Rand and company arrive near Cairhien. (ACoS,Ch3)

Souran Maravaile: Artur Hawkwing's greatest general. Husband to Ishara, first to sit on the Lion Throne. Ishara marries Artur Hawkwing's general, Souran Maravaile, and convinces him to give up his siege on Tar Valon. (LoC,Ch1, LoC,Ch26) Souran dies when confronted by four swordsmen in the twenty-third year of the War of the Hundred Years. He kills all four. (LoC,Ch1)

Spar: An Ebou Dari Darkfriend. Old Cully sends Spar and other Darkfriends masquerading as beggars to attack Mat. (ACoS,Ch29)

Spiron Narettin: He is a member of the Illian Council of Nine. Rand leaves forces in Illian to keep the peace. He sends Spiron Narettin east with men loyal to others of the Council of Nine. (TPoD,Ch21)

Stevan: He is Demira's Warder. He is from Cairhien. He is slender and a head shorter than Demira. He is twenty years younger than she is for all the gray in his hair. (LoC,Ch46) He is at Demira's side when she awakens after the attack on her. (LoC,Ch46)

Strom: A bouncer for The Dancing Cartman. Strom helps Saml Hake try to rob Rand and Mat. (TEotW,Ch32)

Suana Dragand: First Weaver of the Yellow Ajah

Suladric: Clan chief of the Shaido Aiel until his death. TSR,Ch23 - After Suladric's death, the Wise Ones give permission for Muradin to enter Rhuidean. TSR,Ch49 - Sevanna is Suladric's widow. TSR,Ch50 - Sevanna is a troublemaker and only wed Suladric because he was clan chief.

Sulamein so Bhagad: A Fourth Age character, Chief Historian at the Court of the Sun. TSR,Ch58,Footer - Sulamein wrote The Wheel of Time.

Sulin: A Maiden of the Spear. She is wiry and white haired. (TFoH,Ch7) She has blue eyes. (LoC,Ch1) She is wiry, scarred and leathery with white hair. (ACoS,Ch2) Sulin is roofmistress of the Roof of the Maidens in Rhuidean. (TFoH,Ch20) Sulin receives a gash to the head when Rand's tower collapses. She insists that she is all right and continues to lead the Maidens. (TFoH,Ch44) Sulin and Enaila lead Jeade'en back to the camp when Rand becomes too tired to think straight. Sulin then sends Enaila and Adelin to bring Moiraine. (TFoH,Ch44)

Sulwin: An Aiel after the Breaking. He is tall with deep-set eyes. He has let his hair grow long. (TSR,Ch26) After yet another bandit attack, Sulwin and several others of the Aiel defy Adan. They abandon the items of the One Power and take their wagons in search of the song. This is the beginning of the Tuatha'an. (TSR,Ch26)

Sumeko Karistovan: Member of the Kin who is very skilled at healing. Failed her test to become Aes Sedai when she broke down completely. Now knows she is a far more accomplished healer than Aes Sedai and has little respect for their abilities there.

Sunamon Haellin: A High Lord of Tear. He has plump hands. (TSR,Ch8) He is unctuous and overly plump. (LoC,Ch4) Torean, Sunamon and Meilan craft a treaty with Mayene that virtually gives Torean an occupying army. Rand angrily burns it and tells Sunamon and Meilan to come up with a reasonable treaty or he will hang them. (TSR,Ch9)

Suraile: An Aiel Maiden of the Moshaine Shaido. Daughter of the sept chief Maeric. Mother Dyrele. Brother Darin. She is left behind when the Moshaine go through one of Sammael's gateways to an unknown part of the Westlands. She is sent to a different place. (ACoS,Ch40)

Surandha: An Aiel woman. She is studying to be a Wise One and is apprenticed to Sorilea. She has dark golden hair. She is handsome, with large blue eyes. She is about five years older than Egwene. (LoC,Ch27) The Wise Ones are unusually hard on Surandha and the other apprentices because they are ticked off at Rand and the Shaido Wise Ones. (LoC,Ch32) LoC,Ch27 - Surandha can channel as strongly as many Aes Sedai.

Surasa: A queen of Kandor and ancestor to Queen Ethenielle. She could control the weather, or at least she believed she could. TPoD,Prologue - Surasa believed that she could control the weather.

Surela: A Seanchan der'sul'dam. When the damane Pura attempts to touch Suroth, Alwhin is outraged and orders Taisa, her sul'dam, to submit herself to Surela for punishment. (TSR,Ch1)

Surine: A Seanchan sul'dam. She looks like Nynaeve, but taller. (TSR,Ch46) Surine deserts after the battle at Falme. (TSR,Ch46) TSR,Ch46 - Egeanin sets Floran Gelb hunting for deserters such as Surine.

Surlivan Sarat: He is an officer of the guard at the Tarasin Palace in Ebou Dar. He is stocky. (WH,Ch17) Mat and Noal Charin chat with Surlivan Sarat when they return to the Tarasin Palace. (WH,Ch17)

Suroth Sabelle Meldoran: Seanchan High Lady and Darkfriend.

Susa al'Seen: An Emond's Field girl. She is slight and fluttery. (LoC,Ch10) Alanna and Verin accompany several Two Rivers girls, Bodewhin Cauthon, Hilde Barran, Jerilin al'Caar, Marisa Ahan, Emry Lewin, Elise Marwin, Darea Candwin, Larine Ayellin, Jancy Torfinn, Susa al'Seen and Marce Eldin, in Caemlyn. They all have the ability to channel. They are terrorized by Rand. (LoC,Ch10)

Susu: A young woman who works in The Good Night's Ride in Lugard. She is young. (TFoH,Ch11) Susu sings and dances for the patrons of The Good Night's Ride. (TFoH,Ch11)

Sybaine: She is one of the thirteen Counsels of Far Madding. Her hair is as gray as Cadsuane's. (WH,Ch34) Cadsuane confronts the Counsels of Far Madding. Using the threat of the Asha'man and uncontrolled channeling, she forces Aleis Barsalla to release Rand. (WH,Ch34)
