General
Naeff is an Andoran Asha'man who is strong in air (TGS, Ch. 11). He is one of the few with Rand who is a full Ash'aman (TGS, Ch. 1). He has the lean build of a warrior, along with a strong rectangular face (TGH, Ch. 31). He had suffered from a mild form of madness in which he believed he had a talent that enabled him to see Myrddraal hiding in shadows until Healed by Nynaeve (ToM, Ch. 15).
Timeline
- Before becoming an Ash'aman, he was one of the Queen's Guards who quit in disgust under the reign of Gaebril (TGS, Ch. 31).
- He is present in Arad Doman when a Bubble of Evil kills Adrin and helps Aviendha save Lord Tellaen's manor (TGS, Ch. 11).
- Nynaeve Heals his madness (ToM, Ch. 15).
- He accompanies Rand when Rand returns to Bandar Eban (ToM, Ch. 25).
- He goes with Rand and Bashere to save Rodel (ToM, Ch. 32).
- When Rand goes to Far Madding he sends Naeff in disguise to the Black Tower to try and find loyal men and let him know what has been happening there (ToM, Ch. 51).
- He apparently arrives after Androl and his men drive Taim out (AMoL, Ch. 21) and tells them that they must remember they are men not just weapons (ToM, Ch. 51; AMoL, Ch. 21).
- He forms the gateway when Perrin goes to the Blight during the Last Battle (ToM, Ch. 13).
- He is injured in the Last Battle and appears without his Aes Sedai, though it is not confirmed she is killed (AMoL, Ch. 37).

Relationships
He has bonded Nelavaire Demasiellin (TGS, Ch. 31), and the two have a cordial relationship (TGS, Ch. 31). When his madness is Healed, he immediately a seeks her out (ToM, Ch. 15).
