This is a breakdown of the timeline and all the events happening in each chapter in The Dragon Reborn. The main story in the book begins in the spring, few months after the end of the events in The Great Hunt.

The following assumptions have been made:

The Great Hunt ends around the month of Danu, 998 NE, and the beginning of The Dragon Reborn is said to be around the beginning of spring, which would make the events start in the month of Saban 999NE, almost a year after departing from Emond's Field.
On Bel Tine it is said spring should have fully arrived, which would make the 'beginning of spring' around the beginning of Saban, and Saban 5th is chosen as starting date.
It takes Perrin, Moiraine and Lan three more days (after Moiraine helps with the fishing) to reach the town of Jarra
After Jarra it takes them around 20 days to reach Remen
Whenever there are multiple points of view in a chapter, it's assumed the events are happening at the same time, or at least closely together.

The following timeline shows characters and groups that got split after the battle at Falme in the previous book. Later they split during the current book too. The following colors were chosen to represent the different fractions:

- Rand;

- Egwene, Elayne and Nynaeve;

- Mat, and eventually Thom;

- Perrin, Loial, Moiraine and Lan, and eventually Faile;

Aine, 999 NE	during the night	Ch.49, A Storm in Tear	Mat and Thom reach Tear, they visit multiple inns and find Comar, then Mat kills him, Rand is already in Tear
Aine, 999 NE	after reaching Tear	Ch.50, The Hammer	Perrin, Moiraine, Lan, Loial and Faile reach Tear, Perrin works at a smithy, Moiraine says they will need to go into the Heart of the Stone

Aine, 999 NE	Day ?	Ch.54, Into the Stone	Mat meets Aiel on the rooftops close to the Stone of Tear. They are also joined by Juilin. The Aiel climb the wall to get into the stone, Mat uses fireworks to make an opening in the wall and enters

Moiraine kills Be'lal with balefire, Ba'alzamon is there however. Rand seizes Callandor and is now more powerful. Ba'alzamon runs and Rand follows him. Later Rand kills Ba'alzamon inside TAR which leaves a body in the real world.

In total the events in The Dragon Reborn happen during the first days of spring, 999 NE and last around a month. Not very long timeline for this book.
