General
Leane Sharif was born in Arad Doman. Her mother was a merchant who traded furs and timber. (TFoH, Ch. 1). Leane is tall, willowy, and has copper skin and dark eyes. (TGH, Ch. 7). Her Aunt Resara taught her the charms of the Domani women. (TFoH, Ch. 1).

Like Siuan, she lost her ageless look after being stilled (TSR, Ch. 47). After being stilled, she takes make up and appearance very seriously, to the extent that she even appears immaculate during the Last Battle (AMoL, Ch. 20).
Personality
As a novice of the White Tower, Leane, Siuan and Sheriam got into their share of trouble. This continued on through her years as Accepted. (TFoH, Ch. 1)

After being raised to the Blue Ajah - within three years before Siuan and Moiraine were raised (NS, Ch. 11) - Leane became the Keeper of the Chronicles for Siuan Sanche. She was stilled along with Siuan. They escaped and met with other rebel Aes Sedai in Salidar. She was healed by Nynaeve and chose the Green Ajah.

Relationships with Other Characters
She bonded a Warder, Anjen. They were obviously rather close, for when he died around 985 NE, the loss was so painful for her that she never bonded another Warder. (LoC, Ch. 30)
She renewed the friendship with Siuan and Moiraine once they were raised Aes Sedai (NS, Ch. 14) Leane is also close to several of her sisters, such as Siuan; Moiraine once noted that she thought that, no matter what, Leane would support Siuan. (TGH, Ch. 7) Similarly, Siuan includes Leane among the few people that she can trust. (TDR, Ch. 14)

While still at the White Tower, Min had a viewing of Leane. Min saw a transparent mask of Leane's face, screaming. (TSR, Ch. 1)
Leane's Journey
New Spring
As a novice and Accepted she was close friends with Siuan Sanche and Sheriam. During this time period they got into their share of trouble (TFoH, Ch. 26). Leane was raised to the shawl after Rafela and the two of them presented blue shawls to Moiraine and Siuan upon their raising (NS, Ch. 11). She is also among those who welcome Moiraine and Siuan to the Ajah. Before Siuan and Moiraine, she was the last to choose the Blue (NS, Ch. 12).
The Eye of the World

The Great Hunt
When Siuan travels to Fal Dara she is a member of the group that goes with her (TGH, Ch. 2). While in Fal Dara, she is part of the group that partially heals Mat (TGH, Ch. 4). She takes part in Healing Mat (TDR, Ch. 18) Tam al'Thor and Abell Cauthon visit Tar Valon to find news about their sons. Leane tells them she does not know where they are (TDR, Ch. 20). While Mat is in the Tower, she is one of the group that heals him. (TDR, Ch. 18).

Min is brought to her, demanding an audience with the Amyrlin (TSR, Ch. 1) While Min is in the Tower, Leane is let in on Min's viewings and that Rand is the Dragon Reborn (TSR, Ch. 17). When Elaida found out about Siuan's involvement with Rand, both Siuan and Leane were stilled. With help from Min, Laras, and Gawyn, they both escaped and made their way to Salidar. (TSR, Ch. 47)
The Fires of Heaven

On their travels, Leane goes under the name of Amaena (TFoH, Ch. 1). She decides to take up flirting, so that they will have an easier time on their travels, but also to try and find something to fill the hole in her life (TFoH, Ch. 1) She was also arrested in Kore Springs along with Siuan and Min for burning down a barn. At the trial, she takes the lead and uses her wiles on Gareth Bryne. She is effective, but Gareth notes that she seems unpracticed (TFoH, Ch. 1. After Siuan swears, Leane almost immediately swears by her hope of salvation and rebirth. She escapes as soon as possible (TFoH, Ch. 1) On the way, Leane deals with men, and Siuan with women (TFoH, Ch. 26) When she arrives in Salidar, the Aes Sedai do not recognise her or Siuan and they have to prove themselves by showing knowledge only they should have (TFoH, Ch. 26) She and Siuan pretend to barely be able to stand each other to better manipulate the Aes Sedai in Salidar (TFoH, Ch. 27). While in Salidar they convince the Aes Sedai there to take action after [Siuan]] tells them about how the Red Ajah set up Logain (TFoH, Ch. 27). As punishment for escaping their oath to Lord Bryne, Lord of Kore Springs, she and Siuan are given to him as maids (TFoH, Ch. 28). When Nynaeve and Elayne arrives, she points out the Aes Sedai can use the ter'angreal they brought to talk to Egwene and so keep an eye on Rand (TFoH, Ch. 50).

Leane tries on the a'dam and discovers she can sense Moghedien, though she can't sense the source through her or make her feel anything (LoC, Prologue) She joins Nynaeve and Elayne when the Salidar council visit Elaida's study in Tel'aran'rhiod, but leaves to check for messages in Tar Valon rather than staying with the others (LoC, Prologue) Once she is allowed access to Tel'aran'rhiod she often visits the White Tower to gather information. (LoC, Ch. 14). Leane isHealed by Nynaeve. She does not get her full strength back and goes to Nynaeve to ask her to try again (LoC, Ch. 30). After being Healed, Leane decides to choose the Green Ajah (LoC, Ch. 30).

Leane is one of the best at making cuendillar after Egwene (CoT, Ch. 17). She goes to Southharbor to turn the harbor chain to cuendillar (CoT, Ch. 30).

She completes half before being captured by Melare, Desala, Arebis, Zanica and the others. She shielded her ability to channel. They take her to a cell in the White Tower basement (KoD, Prologue). Leane is beaten for claiming to be an Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah, but eventually proves her identity (KoD, Prologue, Ch. 24). She starts slipping in tidbits to conversations with visiting Aes Sedai to persuade them of the error of their ways (Ch. 24)

Her cell begins to melt while Egwene visits her and she has to be rescued by her Aes Sedai guards (TGS, Ch. 6).
Towers of Midnight

She is one of the three Aes Sedai to attend the meeting with the Wise Ones and Windfinders in tel'aran'rhiod and is the first of them to realise Egwene is right (ToM, Ch. 36). When the Black Ajah attacks, she stays to help fight (ToM, Ch. 37). She is injured in the battle, but survives (ToM, Ch. 38).
A Memory of Light

When the Sharans arrive during the Last Battle, Leane is captured and taken before Demandred who sends her to Rand, with the message that if he doesn't come, Demandred will destroy all he cares about (AMoL, Ch. 22). She later fights the Sharans and her group is forced to retreat until Egwene arrives with Vora's sa'angreal and instead Leane follows (AMoL, Ch. 37). She is close when Egwene is killed and is one of the first to realise (AMoL, Ch. 37).
Miscellaneous
While in Salidar, Siuan is refused use of the ring ter'angreal. Leane lends it to her.
She is a skilled rider (TFoH, Ch. 26).
