Mabriam en Shereed: A historical character; she was Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah and a Queen of Aramaelle. She was involved in founding the Compact of the Ten Nations. She is believed to be ta'veren.
Machan: A Warder. He is with the rebel Aes Sedai in Salidar.
Macharan: A minor nobleman from Andor. He is among those to oppose "Lord Gaebril" (Rahvin).
Machir: A Domani nobleman.
Macoll: A lancer in the Band of the Red Hand.
Macu: A morat'raken. She is killed during the attack on the Kin's farm.
Mada: A woman from Tar Valon; a serving girl at The Woman of Tanchico. Her sister is Saal.
Madel: A fictional character; he is a king of Heape in the story "Mara and the Three Foolish Kings."
Madic: A man from Altara; a servant in the Tarasin Palace and a Darkfriend. He reports to Moridin. Moridin accidentally kills him in 'The Path of Daggers.'
Madoc Comadrin: A historical general. He wrote a book called Fog and Steel on military tactics.
Madwin: A soldier in the Band of the Red Hand.
Maecine: A king of Eharon.
Maedin Bashere: A man from Saldaea; Davram and Deira Bashere's son; Zarine's brother.
Maeric: An Aiel man; the sept chief of the Moshaine Shaido and leader of the Seia Doon. He is married to Dyrele and father of Darin and Suraile.
Maerion: A historical character; the name of one of Birgitte's past lives.
Magde Aybara: A woman from the Two Rivers; Perrin's aunt. She was married to Eward and had three children. She is killed by Padan Fain in 'The Shadow Rising.'
Magla Daronos: An Aes Sedai of the Yellow Ajah; she is aligned with the rebel Aes Sedai. She is a Sitter for her Ajah in the rebel camp. She is originally from Illian.
Maglin Madwen: A woman from Lugard; the innkeeper of The Nine Rings in Tremonsien, Cairhien. She was married to Barin Madwen.
Mahiro Shukosa: A nobleman from Kandor; Rafela Cindal's Warder.
Maigan: An Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, therefore aligned with the rebels. After Anaiya's death, Maigan takes on her place in Egwene's council.
Maigan Nem: A woman from Andor; Admer Nem's wife. They live in Kore Springs.
Maighdin Dorlain: see Morgase Trakand.
Maighdin Trakand: A noblewoman from Andor; Morgase's mother. She died of a fever.
Maigran: A young Jenn Aiel shortly after the Breaking of the World; Marind and Saralin's daughter; Lewin's sister. After she is kidnapped in a raid, her brother wants to rescue her. He is cast out by their second greatfather Adan, because he killed a man while freeing Maigran.
Mailaine Harvole: A historical Aes Sedai shortly after the Breaking. She took part in the decision of building Tar Valon and the White Tower.
Mailinde Paendrag Lyndhal: A Queen of Shandalle; married to Myrdin Paendrag Maregore. She was Artur Hawkwing's mother. She died of Black Fever.
Mair: An Accepted aligned with the White Tower. She was recently raised in 'Knife of Dreams.' She is originally from Arafel.
Maira: A Serai Tomanelle Maiden of the Spear.
Maire: An attendant to Colavaere.
Mairin Gome: The owner of a menagerie.
The Majhere: The title of the head servant of the Stone of Tear. The position is currently held by a hard woman whose name is unknown.
Malena Aylar: The fictional Wisdom of Emond's Field. She bullies people in Nynaeve's testing for Accepted.
Malien: A noblewoman from Altara. She is at the farm when the Seanchan attack.
Malin din Toral Breaking Wave: Wavemistress of Clan Somarin and Sailmistress of Windrunner.
Malind Nachenin: An Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah; she is aligned with the rebels. She is a Sitter for her Ajah in the rebel Hall. She is originally from Kandor.
Malindare: A Maiden of the Spear.
Malindhe: A Wise One.
Malvin: One of the Tower Guard under bannerman Steler during the Aiel War.
Managan: A merchant from Malkier. He pledges to ride with Lan to Tarmon Gai'don.
Manal: A ferryman in Cairhien.
Mandein: An Aiel sept chief; he was also one of Rand's ancestors. He was married to Siedre. He was the first Aiel to go to Rhuidean for the testing to become clan chief.
Mandelain: The clan chief of the Daryne Aiel. He is married to Corehuin and Jair.
Manderic: A Shaido Aiel. He takes Chiad gai'shain.
Mandevwin: A man from Cairhien; a Captain in Shen en Calhar, the Band of the Red Hand.
Mandhuin: A sept chief of the Goshien Aiel.
Manel Rochaid: An Asha'man. He is one of Taim's men. He is originally from Murandy. He calls himself Baijin'm'hael - "Attack Leader." Taim sets his name on the Traitor's Tree as a deserter. Rand tricks Kisman into killing Rochaid in 'Winter's Heart.'
Mangin: A Stone Dog of the Jindo sept of the Taardad Aiel. Rand has him hanged in 'Lord of Chaos.'
Mangore Kiramin: The Sword-bard of Aramaelle and one of Caraighan Maconar's Warders. He wrote a translation of the Prophecies of the Dragon.
Mantual: Gamel Loune's manservant. He is originally from Pujili.
Mar: A scout of Shen en Calhar.
Mara: A fictional character. She is the protagonist of the story 'Mara and the Three Foolish Kings.'
Mara Tomanes: A woman from Tear. She was Siuan Sanche's childhood friend. Also a name taken on by Siuan.
Marac: A nobleman from Illian. He is newly chosen to the Council of Nine.
Maraconn: A High Lord of Tear. Min has a viewing of him dying a bloody death.
Maragaine: A Queen of Andor. Her mother is Queen Termylle; her daughter Astara succeeds her.
Marah: A young woman from Murandy; a novice aligned with the White Tower. Silviana assigns Egwene to be Marah's mentor.
Marah Anan: A young woman from Altara; one of Setalle Anan's daughters; she is Ross and Frielle's sister. She works at her mother's inn, The Wandering Woman in Ebou Dar, until she sells it.
Marande Algoran: An noblewoman from Amadicia and sister to the High Seat of her House. She is also lady-in-waiting to Morgase during her stay in Amador.
Marasale Jureen: An Amyrlin Seat raised from the Yellow Ajah.
Marce Eldin: A novice aligned with the rebel Aes Sedai. She is among the Two Rivers girls Alanna Mosvani and Verin Mathwin want to enroll in the novice book, but a group of Aes Sedai of the original Salidar embassy end up escorting them to the rebel camp.
Mareil: One of the First Twelve Wavemistresses of the Atha'an Miere. She is an old friend of Harine din Togara Two Winds.
Marel: A groom in the White Tower stables. She is Charel's twin sister.
Marewin: A young Amadician noblewoman. A lady-in-waiting to Morgase during her stay in Amador.
Mari: A serving girl at the Stag and Lion in Baerlon, Andor.
Maric: An Aiel warrior.
Maric Mandragoran: Nynaeve's imaginary son during her Accepted's test.
Marille: A Seanchan damane. She was captured and taken to the Royal Palace in Caemlyn, where they try to remove her collar.
Marillin Gemalphin: An Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah; she is also Black Ajah. She flees the White Tower with Liandrin and eleven others of the Black Ajah. She is ordered by Moridin to report to the Lady Shiaine. She is held captive by Elayne. She is originally from Caemlyn, Andor.
Marin al'Vere: The best cook in Emond's Field. She is married to Brandelwyn al'Vere and has five daughters, Berowyn, Alene, Loise, Elisa and Egwene.
Marind: A Jenn Aiel shortly after the Breaking of the World. His parents are Adan and Siedre; his siblings are Elwin, Jaren, Rhea and Sorelle. He is married to Saralin and has two children, Lewin and Maigran. He is killed during a raid.
Maringil: A high-ranking Cairhienin noble. He wants to ascend the throne of Cairhien. Colavaere has him poisoned in 'Lord of Chaos.'

Martan: A man from Tar Valon; a clerk in the White Tower during the Aiel War.
Martine Janata: An Aes Sedai of undetermined Ajah. She is burned out while studying ter'angreal and goes to Ebou Dar. She marries Jasfer Anan and starts a new life as Setalle Anan.
Martyn Tallanvor: A Guardsman-Lieutenant of the Queen's Guard from Andor. He is in love with Morgase.
Marya Somares: An Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah. She was part of the decision-making council during the Aiel War.
Maryl Harke: A scientist at the School of Cairhien.
Masalin: A Wise One of the Shaido Aiel. She cannot channel.
Masema Dagar: A soldier from Shienar. He accompanies Ingtar and the others in the hunt for the Horn of Valere. He proclaims himself as Prophet of the Dragon and preaches of Rand al'Thor.
Mashera Donavelle: A historical Aes Sedai, who placed the interest of the White Tower above her own.
Masic: A man from Ebou Dar. He dies in a knife fight with Baris.
Master Admira: A merchant from Tear.
Master al'Dai: An old man from Emond's Field; he is Bili al'Dai's greatfather. He is also a member of the Village Council.
Master Andril: A person who is mentioned in a song.
Master Azereos: A merchant from Illian.
Master Cole: An old man from Emond's Field.
Master Denal: A man from Altara; he wants to marry the Kinswoman Derys.
Master Dilham: A man from Andor; the innkeeper of Culain's Hound in Caemlyn.
Master Fitch: A man from Andor; the Innkeeper of the Stag and Lion in Baerlon.
Master Grinwell: An Andoran farmer. He is married to Mistress Grinwell and has nine children; the eldest of them is Else Grinwell.
Master Harod: A man from Ghealdan; the innkeeper of Harilin's Leap in Jarra.
Master Helvin: A man from Kandor; the innkeeper of The Gates of Heaven in Canluum.
Master Hightower: A man from Taren Ferry. He is the owner of the only ferry to cross the Taren.
Master Hoffley: A banker in Caemlyn.
Master Hornval: A man in the Two Rivers, who makes roof tiles. He is originally from Tarabon.
Master Hornwell: A man from Andor; he is married to Mistress Hornwell. He keeps one of Trakand's estates with his wife.
Master Inlow: A man from Andor; the innkeeper of The Queen's Man.
Master Jovarin: The head mason for the new wing of the White Tower's library.
Master Lerman: The head mason for Elaida's new palace.
Master Posavina: A merchant from Kandor.
Master Roidelle: The mapmaker for Mat's Band of the Red Hand.
Masuri Sokawa: An Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah; she is aligned with the rebel Aes Sedai. She is bonded to Rovair Kirklin. She is a member of the embassy to Rand al'Thor and is forced to swear an oath of fealty to him after the battle at Dumai's Wells. She joins Perrin's group to Ghealdan. She is originally from Arafel.
Masuto: A soldier from Shienar. He accompanies Ingtar and the others in the hunt for the Horn of Valere.
Materese: A fictional character. The mother of the Wondrous Ind.
Mathena: A historical character. She never liked men, but when Zheres stole her first kiss, she pursued him.
Matilde: A woman from Altara; a servant in the Tarasin Palace. She is married.
Matrim Cauthon: Abell and Natti Cauthon's son; he has four sisters, two of them are Bodewhin and Eldrin. He is a ta'veren from Emond's Field and childhood friends with Rand al'Thor and Perrin Aybara. He is extremely lucky. He blew the Horn of Valere and is the General of Shen en Calhar, the Band of the Red Hand. Due to a treaty with the Eelfinn, he has memories of dead generals in his head. He is destined to marry the Daughter of the Nine Moons and doing so, he becomes the Prince of Ravens.
Matoun: A man from Saldaea; a soldier under Davram Bashere.
Mattin Stepaneos den Balgar: The former King of Illian. He is kidnapped by Aes Sedai and held in he White Tower, believing Rand al'Thor has the intention of killing him for the throne of Illian.
Mavra Mallen: A fictional character. She is the Wisdom of Emond's Field in Nynaeve's testing for Accepted.
Mayam: An Aes Sedai of undetermined Ajah; one of Elaida's Aes Sedai. She is sent to Rand al'Thor in Cairhien, but her fate and whereabouts are unknown.
Maylin: A woman from Altara; a serving girl in The Old Sheep in Ebou Dar.
Mayv Gilyard: A high-ranking Andoran noblewoman. She was Branlet's guardian until her death.
Mazrim Taim: A man from Saldaea; a Darkfriend and the M'Hael of the Black Tower. He was also a false Dragon.
Meane sol Ahelle: A writer in the Fourth Age. She composed 'Glory of the Dragon.'
Meciar: An Aiel warrior of the Night Spears.
Medanor Eramandos: An Amyrlin Seat raised from the Gray Ajah.

Mehtan: A man from Seanchan; a clerk under Blasic Faloun in Almizar. He dies of spewing beetles in 'Knife of Dreams.'
Meidani: An Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah; she is aligned with the rebel Aes Sedai. She is bonded to Leonin. She is sent back to the Tower as ferret and spread the tale of Logain and the Red Ajah. She swears an oath to obey Doesine, Pevara, Saerin, Seaine and Yukiri.
Meilan Mendiana: A High Lord of Tear. He swears an oath of fealty to Rand. He is killed by a footpad on the orders of Colavaere in 'Lord of Chaos.'
Meilyn Arganya: An Aes Sedai of White Ajah. She is bonded to Andro. She is one of the searchers for the Dragon Reborn. She is killed by the Black Ajah in 'New Spring.'
Meira: A Wise One of the White Cliff Shaido.
Melaine: A Wise One of the Jhirad Goshien. She is a dreamwalker. She is married to Bael, which makes her sister-wife to Dorindha. She is having twin girls.
Melanril Asegora: A minor Tairen lord. He is in charge of the Tairen cavalry, but he dies in a fight against the Aiel in 'The Fires of Heaven.'
Melare: An Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, therefore aligned with Elaida's Aes Sedai. She is originally from Andor. She is one of the Aes Sedai in Pevara's group who go to the Black Tower to bond Asha'man.
Melasune: A historical figure; a Queen of Andor. She was Alesinde's daughter.
Melavaire Someinellin: An Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah; she is aligned with Elaida's Aes Sedai. She has a Warder. She is originally from Cairhien.
Melfane Dawlish: A midwife in Caemlyn, Andor. She is Essande's nice and Jaem's mother. She serves as Elayne's midwife.
Melia: A woman from Shienar; she is Hurin's wife.
Melindhra: A Maiden of the Spear of the Jumai Shaido and a Darkfriend. Mat kills her when she attacks him in 'The Fires of Heaven.'
Melisinde: A fictional character. She is the heroine in a story in The Flame, the Blade and the Heart.
Melitene: A woman from Seanchan; Tuon's personal der'sul'dam.
Melore: A woman from Arad Doman; she is a Wise Woman and one of the Kin's Knitting Circle. She is killed by the gholam in 'A Crown of Swords.'
Memara: An Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah, therefore aligned with Elaida's Aes Sedai. She is sent to Queen Tenobia of Saldaea to become her advisor, but she does not succeed.
Mendan: An Aiel warrior.
Mendao: A soldier from Shienar. He accompanies Ingtar and the others in the hunt for the Horn of Valere. He is killed in a fight with three Hunters for the Horn.
Meneril: A nobleman from Cairhien.
Menuki Nachiman: A woman from Arafel; King Paitar's wife.
Mera: An Aiel woman. She has two sons and three daughters, one of them a Wise One apprentice.
Meralda: A member of Cha Faile from Tear.
Merana Ambrey: An Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah; she is aligned with the rebel Aes Sedai. She was part of the embassy sent to Rand al'Thor and was forced to swear an oath of fealty after the battle at Dumai's Wells. She is originally from Caemlyn, Andor.
Merean Redhill: An Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah; she was also Black Ajah. She was Mistress of Novices under Tamra Ospenya. After murdering members of the Kandori royal family, Merean herself is killed by Moiraine in 'New Spring.'
Meresin Daganred: A young Cairhienin noble. He is a captain in Mat's Band of the Red Hand and leaves with the others for Maerone in Tear.
Meri: A refugee; she works as Egwene's maid for a time.
Meri do Ahlan a'Conlin: A noblewoman from Murandy. She bore a son with the name Sedrin at the end o the Aiel War. She claims to be a direct descendant of Katrine do Catalan a'Coralle, the first Queen of Murandy.
Merici: A performer in Valan Luca's menagerie.
Merilille Ceandevin: An Aes Sedai of the Gray Ajah; she is aligned with the rebels. She was sent as an emissary to Queen Tylin of Altara. She serves a year as teacher to the Windfinders of the Atha'an Miere, but vanished from the Royal Palace with Talaan, one of the Windfinder apprentices.
Merise Haindehl: An Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah from Tarabon; she is neither aligned with Elaida's nor Egwene's Aes Sedai, but is a follower of Cadsuane Melaidhrin instead. She is bonded to Bassane, Nethan and the Asha'man Jahar Narishma.
Merk: A fictional character; a storied giant.
Mervin Poel: A scientist in the School of Cairhien. He invents the steam-wagon.
Merya: A woman from Saldaea; she was Elyas Machera's lover for a year.
Merym: An Aes Sedai of the White Ajah; she is aligned with Elaida's Aes Sedai.
Mesaana: A Forsaken. Her name before turning to the Shadow was Saine Tarasind. She stays hidden in the White Tower.
Metarra din Junalle: A Windfinder apprentice of the Atha'an Miere.
Metwyn: A man from Tear; a Redarm in the Band of the Red Hand.
Mezar Kurin: A man from Arad Doman; a Dedicated among the Asha'man. He reports to Logain. He is bonded to Adrielle.
Micara: A Wise One of the Shaido Aiel.
Miedelle Caeren: An noblewoman from Andor; Lord Nasin's wife. She died thirty years ago.

Mili Skane: An young woman from Andor and a Darkfriend. She calls herself the Lady Shiaine Avarhin. She is captured during the attempt of kidnapping Elayne.
Milla al'Azar: A young woman from the Two Rivers; the Wisdom of Taren Ferry.
Milli Ayellin: A girl from the Two Rivers.
Millis Fendry: A woman from Andor; the innkeeper of the Hoop and Arrow and a spy for the Brown Ajah.
Milsa: A woman from Far Madding; she is married to the bootmaker Zeram.
Min Farshaw: A young woman from Baerlon, Andor. Her full name is Elmindreda Farshaw. She can foretell the future of certain people by reading auras. Her aunts are Jan, Rana and Miren. She is in love with and bonded to Rand al'Thor.
Mirane Larinen: A Kinswoman. She disappears in 'Knife of Dreams'; presumably she is killed by Careane Fransi.

Modair Paendrag: A historical character; Artur Paendrag and Amaline's son and Amira's twin brother. He was killed in battle.
Modarra: A Wise One of the Shaido Aiel.
Modrellein: A Queen of Andor; she is remembered for her courage.
Moghedien: A Forsaken. Her name before turning to the Shadow was Lilen Moiral. Disguised as the refugee Marigan she is later captured by Nynaeve and held by the means of an a'dam. She is freed by Aran'gar with a summons to Shayol Ghul, where she is mindtrapped. She now has to obey Moridin, who holds her cour'souvra.
Moilin: An Ogier author; Hamada's daughter and Juendan's grand-daughter. She wrote "A Study of the War of the Shadow".
Moiraine Damodred: An Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah. She is originally a high-ranking noblewoman of Cairhienin heritage; Dalresin's daughter; niece of Laman, Aldecain and Moressin; Anvaere and Innloine's younger sister; Taringail's youngest half-sister and Caraline's cousin. During her Acceptedhood, she became best friends with Siuan Sanche, with whom she started the search for the newborn Dragon. She was bonded to Land Mandragoran, until she fell with Lanfear through the redstone doorframe in Rhuidean.
Monaelle: A Wise One. Melaine's midwife.
Mora: A Wise One of Colrada Hold and a dreamwalker; Bair's teacher. She dies of a bloodsnake bite when she is nearly three hundred years old.

Myrelle Berengari: An Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah; she is aligned with the rebels where she is Captain-General of her Ajah. She was one of the original group of leaders in Salidar, until it became Egwene's council. She is bonded to Avar Hachami, Croi Makin, Nuhel Dromand and Lan Mandragoran. She is originally from Ebou Dar in Altara.
