Overview

Hearts of the Ajah are staff positions in the Department of Membership. Hearts serve as assistants to the Heads of Ajah. They are the Aes Sedai equivalent of Honor Guards.

Rotation: 6 month rotation

Merit Eligibility: Staff Merit

Chain of Command

The Heart of Ajah reports to the Head of Ajah.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The day-to-day role of the Heart can vary slightly between Ajahs. Generally, a Heart helps boost the Ajah's morale, while the Head handles the more administrative needs of the Ajah.

In most Ajahs, a Heart:

  • Supports the Head of Ajah.
  • Acts as Head of Ajah if they are temporarily unavailable.
  • Is a co-administrator of the Ajah's Sitting Room and Chambers forums.
  • Monitors and actively participates in the Ajah's Sitting Room and Chambers.
  • Closes threads with an excessive number of pages and opens new ones.
  • Helps build relationships between the Ajah's guesting Accepted, Aspirants, Aes Sedai, and Warders.
  • When needed, provides recommendations and does research when the Head of Ajah is considering raising an Aspirant to Aes Sedai.
  • The Heart can also act as a substitute Sitter in certain situations. Some Ajahs will not allow a Heart to also be a Sitter for this reason.

Expectations

  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to work closely with the Head of Ajah.
  • Generally, cannot be a Sitter at the same time.

Time Commitment

  • 6 month term.

Qualifications

  • Must be an Aes Sedai of that Ajah in good standing.
  • Must be able to commit for the entire term.
